Like the sedan, the new 2019 BMW 5 Series touring can boast of being innovative, even more than for the line and the specific content, for the technologies that lurk under its guise. Many of them borrowed from the sister series 7. Versatile, easy to handle and comfortable. The 520d, of course, is the touring, destined to collect the biggest consents in Italy. In spite of the measures, among which are the length of 4.94 meters and the pitch that touches the three, and the weight that on the 1,700 kg when it is equipped with four steering wheels in addition to the electronic suspension, the new German family has a convincing dynamism in every situation. In fact, even on the most tortuous paths it moves with the same ease as it can be seen on the faster ones, because it transposes and executes every command in a punctual and precise way, coming to arouse in those who are behind the wheel the impression of having to deal with a car more compact and, even, lighter. It is, therefore, always instinctive and pleasant to drive. Moreover, it does not impose any renunciation on the front of comfort, since the cockpit is well insulated both from the sources of noise and the roughness of the road, even if it uses the most sporty logic of the car configuration system.

To make the guide pleasant in every situation contributes, of course, also the performance of the Bavarian Turbot when interacting with the automatic gearbox. In fact, it is always up to the situation, because, if you are traveling to normal gaits, rewards with the spontaneity of expression and the fluency with which the transmission scans the passages, while when you want to push it emerges an incisive character. In short, the level of responsiveness the music changes considerably.

A meeting between style and functionality. The reinterpretation of the most robust of the BMW station wagons originates a family with a more slender silhouette than the previous one, but that does not impose any waiver on the front of functionality. In fact, the new Series 5 touring offers a greater amount of space in the rear area of the cockpit, made well accessible by the horizontal trend of the pavilion, although such as to offer a valid hospitality only to two passengers due to the footprint of the tunnel of the transmission. It accompanies all an elegant and hi-tech décor inherited from the sedan and a well-organized loading area. It is not much more capacious than that of the progenitor (the minimum volume goes from 560 to 570 liters, while the maximum grows from 1,670 to 1,700) and, therefore, it is absolutely not exceptional for a family of size XL, but it is easily accessible through the large tailgate with electric handling, as well as lifting only the rear window if you have to load small objects. In addition, it has a regular shape and underneath the table top, it conceals a housing where, if necessary, it can also stow the awning covered. For the record, the latter, when it is operational, follows (electrically) the movements of the tailgate. The attentions to the most characteristic part of this series 5 also result in the possibility to overturn the backs of the rear sofa by means of switches placed in the trunk.
